Alicia at the National Suicide Prevention Conference

August 1, 2017

The National Suicide Prevention Australia Conference 2017 holds high hopes for suicide prevention in Australia. CoMHWA’s delegate Alicia Beckingsale attended the conference. Alicia delivered a workshop entitled “Dear Someone”, engaging participants in writing and music methods to help overcome challenges in life, as a well as a Spoken Word performance as musician Licy Be, in a performance which resulted in over 3000 views online to date. International and local speakers highlighted the latest in research through to grassroots initiatives that are building safer, more connected supports for people both globally and locally. It was encouraging to see the diverse range of initiatives that have sprung to bring lived experience to the forefront of suicide prevention approaches in Australia and we developed a range of contacts to support these initiatives being shared at state level for greater impact.  Read more about the conference via the hashtag #NSPA17.
