CoMHWA Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary
September 5, 2016
CoMHWA would like to extend thanks to all who attended our 10 Year Celebration on Friday 26th August.
We would also like to thank absent members for their ongoing support of CoMHWA, including those who sent telegrams to be read during the afternoon.
It was great to meet existing and new members, listen to stories and news being shared and hear about new opportunities within mental health from other organisations.
With some new staff in the CoMHWA office, it was also a great opportunity to meet the new faces!
The afternoon started with an official welcome by our CEO, Shauna Gaebler and our Chairperson, Brian Wooller, then jumped straight into the entertainment by Deb “Spoons” Perry who had such a great energy and got everyone smiling with her spoon-playing and storytelling.
After a lesson on how to play the spoons and hearing some great renditions of well-known songs, everyone tucked into some delicious afternoon tea and of course, cake – because what’s a party without cake?!
Brian brought us all back together to hear about the history of our beginnings and the consumer movement, presented by current Board members; Anna Richards and Lyn Mahboub. We heard about the achievements reached and where we are currently going in our work to ensure the consumer voice is heard from Shauna and Rhianwen. Alicia finished off our presentations with a poem she wrote for the event on what the future holds for CoMHWA and our members , and shared some of the individual hopes for the future which were written up over the course of the afternoon on our artwork installation. It’s safe to say that everyone left with a full belly and a smiling face!
So once again, we thank you for your continued support of the work that we do here at CoMHWA, and we hope to see all of you (and more!) at our future events, forums and meetings.
Please contact the office if you would like a digital copy of any photos from the celebration.
