Introduction to Peer Group Facilitation

TWO-DAY workshop to learn basic skills for conducting a peer support group.
This workshop focuses on planning and facilitation skills necessary to ensure the group process meets group needs and objectives in the context of peer support work. Skills and strategies for engaging group members, forming group norms and managing difficult and disruptive behaviours will also be explored.
This two-day workshop will cover:
- Working with the characteristics and features of peer support groups
- The facilitator’s role within peer support groups
- Basic Facilitation skills for conducting groups
- Group stages and impact on the group process
- Dealing with difficult and disruptive behaviours within the group setting
- Group endings, self-evaluation and self-care
The workshop aims to build participant’s confidence in a supportive learning environment
This workshop is facilitated by lived experience peers.
